    Ana Colaço

   

Ana Colaço has been a researcher at the University of the Azores for more than 20 years. Her main interests include vulnerable marine ecosystems, namely in hydrothermal vent and sponge aggregations. She studies trophic ecology of deep-sea systems, benthic ecology, ecosystem functioning and conservation. She is involved as an expert in several science-policy panels of the European Commission, International Seabed Authority, and the Portuguese government, and as nominee in CBD processes such as EBSA and the post 2020 GBF. She is presently co-chair of the Working Group Deep Sea Ecology (WGDEC) from the International council for the exploitation of the Sea. She participated in over 40 oceanographic cruises with submersibles (including 12 as a PI) and to five manned submersible dives (Alvin, Nautile and Lula1000). She is Commissaire of the Sargasso Sea Commission and member of the Advisory Board of DOSI.

    Maria Teresa Dinis

   

Maria Teresa Dinis is Emeritus Professor at the University of Algarve. She obtained her PhD in France, at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (Brest) studying the biology and cultivation of flat fishes. Since the eighties she has been involved in marine fish cultivation projects, mostly concerning quality of eggs and larvae. She formed and coordinates the Aquaculture Research Group at the Centre of Marine Sciences/University of Algarve, where National and International projects for new species for aquaculture in the Mediterranean area have been conducted. She has been coordinator of numerous research projects, taken part of consultant committees at the Portuguese Government level and participating since 2010, as independent expert on the evaluation of the European Funds for Fisheries among the different Frameworks for Portugal. She has had collaborative and interactive links with many Universities and Institutes in European and African countries. Current projects involve larval nutrition, brood stock management and, more recently, evaluation of sustainable extensive and semiextensive aquaculture. She was a member of the EAS Board for the period 2010-2014. As a consultant expert she has taken part on the elaboration of the Strategic Plan for Fisheries Developing in Angola (J&Brothers Ltd), on the Maritime Cluster for Madeira Island (IESE) and on the Maritime Cluster for Cape Verde (SAER S.A.) In 2020 she was awarded by the Ministry of Science Technology with the Medal of Scientific Merit, for her contribution to the field of aquaculture in Portugal.

    Silvia Lino

   

Engenheira em Biotecnologia pela Universidade Lusófona de Lisboa e doutora em Biologia Marinha pela Universidade dos Açores. Durante o PhD desenvolveu um projeto para bioprospecção de compostos naturais marinhos de animais de profundidade onde explorou as suas possibilidades terapêuticas. Trabalha desde 2016 na Sea4Us: uma empresa de biotecnologia para investigação e desenvolvimento de produtos farmacêuticos com inspiração marinha, com sede em Sagres, focada especificamente em procurar novas alternativas para a dor. Na Sea4us coordena a equipa de gestão de dados científicos e gere projetos IDI como o “SeaDiscovery” e “SeaCancer”, que procuram novas soluções para problemas humanos, como a dor crónica, doença inflamatória intestinal, dor associada à quimioterapia ou cancro.

    Ana Freitas

   

Ana Freitas is a doctoral candidate in Educational Sciences at the University of Porto, focusing on doctoral education. She holds a degree and a master’s in Education from the University of Minho and is certified as both a teacher trainer and a trainer of trainers. She is currently a guest lecturer at the University of Porto (Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Sciences) and a research fellow at CIIE – Centre for Research and Intervention in Education. From 2014 to 2024, she coordinated the Transversal Skills Training Programme for doctoral students at FEUP and organised major academic events, including the Doctoral Congress in Engineering and the 2023 conference Research Conduct and Integrity. An active member of several European and national networks on doctoral education (PRIDE, RNED, SGOUP, EURODOC), she also contributed to EU-funded projects such as PEP-UP and DocTalent4EU. She is registered as an EU Expert for research and innovation programmes under Horizon Europe.

    Ana Salgado

   

Ana Salgado holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Minho University. She is now currently working at CIIMAR coordinating the advanced training and career development office. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, she taught health, sciences, education, psychology in different institutions. She coordinated a pedagogical project to improve the quality of teaching and worked as a consultant. Ana developed several training courses for PhD supervisors, and other curricular units to PhD, master and bachelor students related with transversal and transferable skills. Her research interests include communication skills, gamification, and self-regulated learning.
